Both of these will be held at St. Matthew\u2019s Estate TRA Hall in St. Matthew\u2019s Road, SW2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later on, we aim to host a series of meetings in different parts of the neighbourhood, so if you want to suggest a meeting place nearer to you, please contact the Secretary at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:apiperbrix@aol.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apiperbrix@aol.com<\/a><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Council elections hustings, Monday 27 April<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our next General Meeting will be a Hustings for candidates from all parties contesting seats in our area.\u00a0 It will be held on\u00a0<strong>Monday 27 April\u00a0from\u00a07 pm\u00a0at the St. Matthew\u2019s Estate Tenants Hall<\/strong>, near the North end of St. Matthew\u2019s Road, SW2. This illustrated talk takes us\u00a0<em>inside\u00a0<\/em>Doulton\u2019s to discover what conditions were like for this pioneering generation of professional women artists, and why a significant number of these women chose long careers over marriage, which at the time was considered woman\u2019s true career. The talk will focus on those artists and assistants who lived in Brixton (including some of the most famous), and look at a range of Doulton art pottery dating from the 1870s to 1920s.<br>The talk is free, but please book\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brixtonforum.us13.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=41f4dd0a933ab7c1c2f1d9ed7&amp;id=afb60ce0f3&amp;e=ce15a82d1b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<br>There is an option when you book to make a donation. The next is on\u00a0<strong>Wednesday 25 March<\/strong>, 12 to 3 pm outside Bellefields, at the junction of Bellefields Road and Stockwell Avenue, SW9 9SY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>\u00a0Crime and Safety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>\u00a0Brixton Police Station Counter<\/strong><br>Against an overall trend to reduce public access to police stations in London, Brixton\u2019s front counter opening times have actually been extended.\u00a0 Opening hours are now 10 am to 10 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 7 pm at weekends.\u00a0 24\/7 counter services are available at Charing Cross and Lewisham police stations.<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Windrush Square Safe Hub<\/strong><br>Following last month\u2019s report, this is now operating in Windrush Square on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.<br>It is intended to provide a safe place for people to go late at night if they are feeling unsafe and need some help. It will provide advice, hot drinks, medical help and support for anyone feeling vulnerable. So far, provision is very basic and first impressions are that it needs to develop if Lambeth is serious about its new Strategy for the Night-time Economy.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Bystander Training Events<\/strong><br>Recent publicity for social media being used to provoke teen-on-teen violence makes these training events suddenly more topical.
