Events at Brixton Windmill<\/strong>:

Guided tours of the windmill are offered on at least one weekend a month, the next being on\u00a010 & 11 August<\/strong>.\u00a0
A number of regular weekly activities take place in the education centre alongside.

Black Culture Market<\/strong>
This popular event returns to Downstairs at the Department Store, 248 Ferndale Road SW9 on Saturday and Sunday\u00a027 & 28 July,\u00a0<\/strong>open 11 am to 5 pm.\u00a0 Find a different mix of traders each day and support Black-owned businesses and makers in Brixton. Exhibitions Underway<\/strong>
The Brixton Blog & Bugle Art Show\u00a0<\/strong>runs at Brixton Tate Library until Thursday\u00a025 July<\/strong>, open during library opening hours.
Ties that bind\u00a0<\/strong>is the current exhibition at the\u00a0Black Cultural Archives\u00a0<\/strong>continuing until 8th<\/sup>September.\u00a0 Not only an art showca
\u00a0se, but also a crucial forum for education and connection, aiming to ignite discussions across the generation gap\u00a0and encourage a deeper understanding of the complex mental health challenges facing the Black community today.

Other Local News<\/strong>

Use of International House extended to March 2027<\/strong>
It was reported at last month\u2019s Forum meeting that the \u201cmeanwhile\u201d use of International House was likely to be extended because the prospects for developing that and the Pop Brixton site were looking difficult.\u00a0 We have now heard that management by 3Space will continue until March 2027.\u00a0 They are keen to attract new short-term tenants to fill gaps left by those who had already moved out. Advocacy Academy back soon!<\/strong>
The Advocacy Academy signed the lease this month on their new base in Beehive Place, next door to Photofusion below the Brixton Recreation Centre.\u00a0 The Liberation Centre will be a purpose-designed youth and community centre with affordable co-working spaces, offering an open-access sanctuary for young people.
The aim is to open in early Autumn.\u00a0 Booking arrangements will be similar to before, and will be on their website once agreed \u2013 so keep an eye on\u00a0www.theadvocacyacademy.com<\/a>

Site Allocations Plan re-opened for comments or objections<\/strong>
Due to an error in the original announcement, the Council\u2019s Site Allocations Plan has been re-opened for objections, until\u00a013 August<\/strong>.

Still time to comment on<\/strong> Schools Closure Threat<\/strong>
Several primary schools are at risk of closure or mergers, due to declining numbers of school-age children in our part of Lambeth.
Family-size homes are increasingly shared by adult households in order to afford the rent. Smaller classes sound better, but because schools are funded by their number of pupils, smaller schools may be unable to cover their running costs.\u00a0

Lambeth Council is consulting on proposals affecting several schools:\u00a0 Christchurch and St. John the Divine (North Brixton), Fenstanton and Holy Trinity (Tulse Hill), St. John\u2019s Angell Town and St. Saviours (Herne Hill Road) and on the Clapham Park fringe, Glenbrook and King\u2019s Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arts & Health Summer Project for Young People<\/strong>
Children and young people (ages 13-19) are invited to join a summer-long project to help redesign an element of the children and young people\u2019s mental health care service CAMHS.
